Question 1

What is YourCFO?

Accepted Answer

YourCFO is the back office for startups and SMEs. It leads with YourBooks, bookkeeping built for founders rather than for filing, moved across with you and kept clean and current. Your general ledger feeds the YourCFO forecast on the same platform, which connects the decisions you actually make, like hires and campaigns, to revenue, cost, cash and runway, so the same numbers you file from also run the company.

Question 2

Can I keep my corporate secretary if I move my books?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Corporate secretarial work (or the registered agent, depending on where you are incorporated) and bookkeeping are two separate services that usually arrive in one envelope at incorporation. Your corp sec keeps doing the statutory filings. Only the bookkeeping moves to YourBooks, and we do the move with you: your full history comes across and you sign off on the trial balance before anything commits.

Question 3

What does “initiative-based forecasting” mean?

Accepted Answer

Instead of editing numbers in a static spreadsheet, you model in layers. You start from a Business-as-Usual baseline, layer specific growth initiatives on top (a new hire, a campaign, a product launch), combine those into scenarios, and then monitor variance as real results come in. Every initiative is tied to the revenue and cost drivers it actually affects, so its financial impact is explicit.

Question 4

How is YourCFO different from a spreadsheet?

Accepted Answer

A spreadsheet stores numbers; YourCFO models decisions. Each initiative is linked to the drivers it affects, scenarios recalculate in real time as you change assumptions, and variance analysis tells you whether an initiative delivered the return you expected. That feedback loop is the part a static spreadsheet cannot give you on its own.

Question 5

How is it different from hiring a fractional CFO?

Accepted Answer

A good fractional CFO costs more than most small companies can justify. YourCFO gives operators the modeling, scenario, and reporting infrastructure a CFO would build, delivered as software from day zero. It is designed to complement expert judgment, not replace it.

Question 6

Who is YourCFO for?

Accepted Answer

Founders and owners who run finance themselves without a dedicated finance hire: early-stage startups, and SMEs that have outgrown a once-a-year set of accounts. It fits B2B and SaaS, consumer tech, consumer products and retail, and manufacturing businesses, with the chart of accounts and the forecast engine seeded to what you sell. Built for lean teams who solve non-core functions with software rather than headcount.

Question 7

Does YourCFO only work for SaaS businesses?

Accepted Answer

No. YourCFO runs a different revenue engine depending on what you sell. B2B and SaaS businesses forecast on recurring contracts, ACV, and churn. Consumer tech forecasts on cohorts, ARPU, and retention decay. Consumer products forecast on units, price, and landed COGS, with margin taken after channel fees and fulfillment. Manufacturing and hardtech use the same unit economics plus a production-capacity ceiling, so output is capped at whichever is lower, demand or capacity. Your chart of accounts is seeded to match the same business type.

Question 8

Do I need to move my books to use the forecast?

Accepted Answer

No. You can build and run a forecast in YourCFO on its own and import your actuals. If your books are in YourBooks, or you take the YourCFO Suite, your general ledger flows into the forecast automatically so your plan stays anchored to reality without a spreadsheet in between.

Question 9

What does YourCFO cost?

Accepted Answer

YourBooks is US$99/month. The YourCFO Suite, which is YourBooks plus the Professional forecast with your ledger feeding it, is US$199/month. The forecast on its own is US$49/month (Starter) or US$149/month (Professional), and Custom is available on request. Annual billing saves roughly two months versus paying monthly.

Question 10

Does YourCFO support Southeast Asian currencies?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The base-currency list includes Southeast Asian currencies, so you can model your forecast in the currency you actually operate in.

Question 11

What is YourBooks and how does it connect to the forecast?

Accepted Answer

YourBooks is the bookkeeping product and the place to start: automated journal entries, expense categorisation and OCR, bank reconciliation, and a general ledger, P&L and balance sheet you can read any day. Once your ledger is in YourBooks it flows straight into the YourCFO forecast, so burn, runway and variance come out of the same books you file from. The two are sold together as the YourCFO Suite.
